Half Sweat, Half Laughter | A Photo Chronicle of the 2026 Freshmen's Military Training

On the drill ground in September, commands ring out loud—and laughter rings even louder. Since the opening of military training, the Class of 2026 freshmen from the two campuses and six colleges have taken turns at formation drills, military boxing, and barracks tidying. As soon as training ends, fun games kick off—and the Summer Night Concert and the beach training march arrive as promised. Sweat makes them stand straighter; laughter brings them closer. This cohort's military training has left nothing out on either side.

Inside the drill ground, excitement runs high: nine major games, where laughter drowns out the commands.

The classic "Catch the Loach" game is back. Students throw themselves into it with great enthusiasm; under the organization of instructors and assistant instructors, splashes and laughter fly together, and waves of cheers and laughter never cease on site.

The Bunny Dance lifts the mood to a new level. Students pair up and hop in neat unison to the beat, their steps light and full of energy. To the cheerful music, everyone forgets the fatigue of training and thoroughly enjoys the happy moment.

The students of the Intelligent Manufacturing Future College turn team-building into a "campus adventure." Ten teams, task cards and props in hand, weave through campus on a treasure hunt—testing not only stamina but also division of labor, judgment, and teamwork. United and striving, they complete every challenge efficiently, forging team strength through the fun activities and showing a youthful spirit of solidarity and progress.

At the Balloon Defense game, it is a joyful "free-for-all." Students tie balloons to their waists or hats, and three classes take turns attacking, each rushing to pop the other's balloons. Between offense and defense, tacit understanding quietly builds through each round of coordination. Everyone joins in eagerly and cooperates in sync, deepening friendship through the cheerful contest and raising team awareness.

Over at the Medical Care Industry College, the "Einstein's Cards" battle is in full swing. Each play hides a calculation; attack and defense each have their subtlety; a contest of wits unfolds in a small space. Victory seems in hand one moment, then the tables turn the next, as one surprise reversal after another sets off waves of laughter across the crowd. This battle of brains has onlookers crying out in delight.

At the whistle, the hula hoop zips through the tightly clasped hands of the Medical Care Industry College students. No words needed—only a tacit understanding passes between them: bend, lift, pass, all in one smooth motion. Each narrow escape earns rounds of cheers. The small hoop strings together a field full of cheers and cohesion.

Beyond the drill ground, romance knows no bounds: songs on summer nights, waves on the beach.

On the evening of September 1, the Daheishi Campus Summer Night Concert kicked off in high spirits. With the night breeze as company, the program sparkled, songs rang clear, and applause kept breaking out, turning the scene into a sea of joy. Immersed in it, the students shared a relaxed, delightful time in the music.

At dawn on September 2, the beach military training march began. The sea breeze brushed their faces as the students marched side by side through the surf, cheering each other onward. Midway, an impromptu tug-of-war broke out in full swing; cheers and laughter intertwined as everyone pulled together with one shared strength and one shared heart, laughter answering the waves, youthful passion burning freely in this moment.

Another lesson beyond class hours: ice-breaking and guidance.

There is also an activity designed for the freshmen's "psychological transition." Songs, dances, and fun games take turns on stage, helping freshmen break the ice and get to know one another, easing the tension of starting college, and building team awareness and a sense of belonging to the collective through collaboration; meanwhile, a junior-college-to-undergraduate advancement briefing is held in parallel, spreading information about further education and guiding students to set academic goals. Between relaxation and intensity, it helps freshmen quickly adapt to college life and complete the transition from high school to university.

The laughter in the games, the commands in the formations, the shouts of military boxing, the singing on summer nights—these sounds stack together to fill the Class of 2026 freshmen's new day. Military training continues, laughter continues, and the campus story plays out anew every day.
