'Maple' in full bloom, training in uniform for a new beginning. On August 31, the opening ceremony of the 2026 freshmen's military training was held solemnly at the Daheishi Campus of Dalian Maple Leaf College of Technology. Present at the ceremony were Yang Ping, Chairwoman of Xinyang Shengye International Education Holdings (Dalian) Co., Ltd. and Chair of the Board of Dalian Maple Leaf College of Technology; Yang Jie, President; Wei Xiaofeng, Secretary of the Party Committee; Gao Chenglin, Executive Vice President; Jin Xiaohui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Wang Zhongze, Chair of the Trade Union and Dean of the College of Continuing Education and International Cooperation & Exchange; Jia Zhihai, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Director of the Party and Administrative Office; and Wang Shan, Assistant to the President and Dean of the Medical Care Industry College. Deans of all secondary colleges, heads of Party, government and functional departments, faculty representatives, all training instructors, and the entire Class of 2026 took part in this solemn and fervent opening event. The ceremony was presided over by Executive Vice President Gao Chenglin.
Presentation of the Colors
The ceremony officially began as members of the National Flag Guard marched in with upright posture and high spirits, their steps orderly and steady, stride ringing with resolve. The flag unfurled in the wind, conveying a solemn and reverent atmosphere that fully displayed the vigorous and upward spirit of the Maple Leaf students, drawing a dignified prelude to the opening ceremony of the military training.
Raise the National Flag and Play the National Anthem
All present stood at attention and saluted as the national flag was raised and the National Anthem of the People's Republic of China was sung. The majestic, stirring anthem resounded across the campus as the Five-Starred Red Flag rose slowly and fluttered in the wind. With sincere hearts, all teachers and students paid tribute to the motherland, fostering a deep love for country through the solemn rite and forging a firm conviction to strive for excellence and train hard.
Speech by a Freshman Representative
Zhang Peng, a Class of 2026 student from the Smart City Service Industry College, spoke on behalf of the freshmen. Military training is the first practical required course of university life—both a tempering of will and a forging of collective spirit. All freshmen will strictly observe training discipline, fear neither the blazing sun nor sweat, and build strong, healthy bodies. Through training they will cultivate resilience of character, and through teamwork forge collective strength, devoting themselves to the training with an uplifting spirit and fully displaying the youthful demeanor of a new generation of young students.
Speech by an Instructor Representative
In his remarks, instructor representative Zhang Tao said that military training tempers the will and fosters collective awareness. All instructors will lead by example and conduct training scientifically—strict in requirements, caring in daily life—to solidly accomplish every task of the training. He hoped the students would take the training seriously and surpass themselves through it.
Presentation of the School Flag
Passing the torch, carrying on the mission. A solemn school-flag presentation was held on site. A school flag, radiant with honor, carries the institution's original aspiration of nurturing talent and its youthful mission. The handing over of the flag is a transfer of responsibility and an inheritance of spirit, symbolizing that the Class of 2026 has formally joined the Maple Leaf campus family and will shoulder its youthful mission with a renewed bearing, continuing a new chapter in the school's development.
Mobilization Address for the Military Training
At the opening ceremony, Wei Xiaofeng, Secretary of the Party Committee, delivered the mobilization address. The Secretary extended a warm welcome to all new students of the Class of 2026, noting that meeting these vibrant young people at the best period of the school's development is especially meaningful. He pointed out that military training is the 'first lesson' for students stepping into the Maple Leaf campus, and offered three earnest hopes to the freshmen: temper will and physique, gain a sense of collective belonging through colorful activities, and cultivate a collaborative and responsible character within the marching-together collective. He encouraged all freshmen to 'use sweat as ink and write the first line of youth's poem,' while emphasizing that the school will always be the firmest backing for students as they pursue their dreams and grow.
The opening ceremony came to a close amid sonorous and forceful oaths. In uniform, the young set out; a warm welcome to the Class of 2026 as they embark on a brand-new university journey. We look forward to all freshmen tempering character, gaining friendship, and gathering strength through the forging of military training.
