On the afternoon of September 7, Dalian Maple Leaf College of Technology convened the Summary Meeting of the Study and Education Campaign on Establishing and Practicing the Correct View of Political Achievements, together with the (Enlarged) Study Meeting of the Party Committee’s Theoretical Study Center Group. The school’s leadership team, members of the two committees (the Party Committee and the Discipline Inspection Commission), and Party-branch secretaries attended the meeting, which was chaired and addressed by Wei Xiaofeng, the Party Committee Secretary.
The meeting strictly implemented the “First Topic” system. Yang Jie, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and President, led the group in studying the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and the work-related guiding principles of the Central Party Building Leadership Group, with a focused study centered on creating real achievements that stand the test of practice, the people, and history. The attending cadres exchanged views on key work areas such as the construction of the industry colleges, the practical work of the “Walking Ideological-Political Course,” and the service-and-support work of the two campuses. They expressed their resolve to take the quality of technical-skills talent cultivation and the sense of reward among teachers and students as the fundamental yardstick for evaluating their work, to set aside any pursuit of quick success, and to translate what they have learned into concrete actions in education and teaching, and in student management.
On behalf of the school’s Party Committee, Wei Xiaofeng delivered the summary report, which sorted through the phased results of the study-and-education effort and also, in a matter-of-fact way, examined the existing shortcomings. The meeting pointed out that establishing and practicing the correct view of political achievements is a long-term political task in implementing the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, by no means a temporary piece of work. All cadres across the school must take a firm stand with teachers and students, cultivate the sense of responsibility captured by the saying “achievement need not bear my name, but achievement must have my contribution,” focus on the primary responsibilities and main business of higher vocational education, carry out solidly the various kinds of work that lay foundations, bring long-term benefits, and reward teachers and students, and resolutely correct any formalism and bureaucratism.
The meeting undertook a focused study of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thought on Party building, and carefully read “Implementing Well the Party’s Organizational Line for the New Era,” guiding school-running practice with the Party’s innovative theories and treating Party building as an important basis for practicing the correct view of political achievements. After the focused study, Jin Xiaohui, Deputy Party Committee Secretary, made arrangements for the school’s Party-building priorities for the second half of the year, clarifying work requirements in terms of theoretical study, branch-level construction, Party-member education, ideological-political construction, ideological-domain work, work-style and clean-governance, and Party-building brand building, so as to further press home the responsibility of branch-level work, promote the deep integration of Party-building work with the school’s operations, and ensure that all Party-building tasks are carried through to the end.
In light of the school’s reform-and-breakthrough tasks and its work on internal-capacity building, the meeting set out clear requirements for putting the spirit into practice. All Party members and cadres across the school are to continue strengthening theoretical armament, lean on each Party branch to carry out theoretical studies in depth, and build a solid ideological foundation; they should persist in making the study-and-education effort a regular, long-term endeavor, establish a teacher-and-student-centered development philosophy, and codify good experience into institutional mechanisms; they should press home the responsibility of managing the Party and governing the Party with strict observance of discipline and rules. The leadership team, members of the two committees, and the secretaries of every branch should play a leading role, putting the correct view of political achievements into practice in such areas as specialty construction, talent cultivation, the integration of production and education, and campus safety and stability, and using high-quality Party building to lead the school’s high-quality development.
The meeting stressed that establishing and practicing the correct view of political achievements is a long-term task and cannot stop at the level of conference study. Every Party branch and every department should raise their political awareness, put in place a closed-loop implementation mechanism, and convey the orientation of the correct view of political achievements to every post in school governance. All Party members and cadres should keep in mind the “matters of the nation,” shoulder the mission of cultivating talent for the Party and the country, put substance first and action first, use the spirit of persistent effort to break through the bottlenecks and difficulties that constrain development, use rigorous school-running results to test their political capability, and strive to write a new chapter in the school’s development, contributing the strength of vocational education to regional development and revitalization.
