Red-Song Sing-Along: A New Wave of Sound for a Generation

The setlist has changed, and so has the mood.

In the lineup of the Medical Care Industry College,

familiar melodies were sung anew —

these songs are far older than the students themselves,

but coming from this generation’s throats,

they take on a brand-new resonance.

Red songs are not old songs.

They are the first time the young

use the resonance of their chests

to feel the weight of conviction.

Singing Aspirations by the Sea: The Sea Itself Is the Largest Reverb

The nursing students walk along the shore,

facing the open sea and lifting their voices.

The sea wind carries their singing far away,

wave after wave keeping time.

Everyone joins the chorus —

in that instant they suddenly grasp what “yong zhi”, or singing one’s aspirations, really means:

singing aloud to the mountain and the sea

the person you want to become.

Daheishi’s daytime belongs to formation drills,
