Internship Story:
In the final summer of my university years, I welcomed the internship phase of the optometry program. I stepped into a renowned vision center in the city—
Dalian Riyue Mutong Eye Vision Technology Co., Ltd.—and embarked on my internship journey. As a newcomer, facing sophisticated instruments and complex cases, I felt both excited and apprehensive. The solid theoretical foundation from college became my strong backing, yet the challenges in actual practice still weighed heavily on me.
Once, a young patient came for consultation, feeling inferior due to myopia. I applied the communication skills learned at college, patiently and meticulously explaining to the patient, using warm words to alleviate her agitated emotions. This scene not only won the trust of the patient's family but also impressed my supervising instructor, who praised me for "possessing both technical competence and humanistic care."
As time progressed, I gradually became familiar with various examination procedures, from refraction and lens fitting to visual training, striving for precision at every step. In one functional frame fitting case, relying on my professional skills, I successfully found the most suitable lenses for a child with high myopia, significantly improving the child's vision condition. This success not only earned a reputation for the unit but also brought me the first honor in my professional career—the title of
Outstanding Intern.
At the conclusion of my internship, the unit spoke highly of me, commending my "solid theoretical knowledge, strong hands-on ability, and good professional qualities." This experience not only brought a qualitative leap in my professional skills but, more importantly, taught me how to apply acquired knowledge to solving practical problems, embodying the college's educational philosophy of "equal emphasis on theory and practice."
I returned to campus with abundant gains. I deeply understand that this internship experience not only allowed me to master professional knowledge and skills but also made me comprehend the mission shouldered as an optometrist. It is also a vivid illustration of the college's educational achievements being transformed into social value.
Xiao Hui's internship journey resembles a magnificent and colorful tapestry, vividly demonstrating the striving and enterprising spirit of
Visual Training and Rehabilitation majors in practice. Every experience accumulated and every skill improved during her internship are like brilliant gems embedded in the crown of the visual health enterprise, radiating dazzling light. Let us look forward with full anticipation to these professional talents who are about to make great achievements in the visual health field—may they continue to use professionalism as the cornerstone and compassion as the bridge on their future paths, painting an even more splendid career blueprint.
