Internship Story: Growth and Gains at Dalian Pulandian District Central Hospital
As 2024 draws to a close, my internship life at
Dalian Pulandian District Central Hospital is also approaching its conclusion. This internship experience has been an invaluable opportunity for me, allowing me to accumulate rich practical experience in a real hospital working environment.
During the internship, I always strictly adhered to the rules and regulations of the hospital's Nursing Department and various clinical departments, never arriving late or leaving early. I conscientiously familiarized myself with patients' conditions, actively answered questions from my supervising nurses and instructors, and proficiently and standardly performed various nursing operations, strictly implementing the "three checks and seven verifications" and rigorously following aseptic technique protocols.
When I first started the internship, I was merely an ignorant student knowing only limited knowledge from textbooks. However, after this internship experience, I can now effectively apply theoretical knowledge to practical operations, having made significant progress in all aspects. On
May 14, I entered the
Respiratory Medicine Ward, where my instructor patiently taught me practical skills such as indwelling needle puncture, catheter sealing, IV bag replacement, and drug interactions specific to the department. Here, I encountered many pneumonia patients whose kindness, understanding, and tolerance provided me with strong psychological support, gradually teaching me how to better understand patients, communicate friendly with family members, and provide them with needed care and assistance.
On
July 2, I rotated to
General Surgery Ward I. Patients in this department were generally more critically ill than those in Respiratory Medicine, with most requiring surgical treatment, which demanded more patience and respect from me. During every infusion needle insertion and removal, I would attentively inquire about the patient's feelings, striving to minimize their pain to the greatest extent. Seeing satisfied smiles on patients' faces filled my heart with joy.
On
September 2, I began my internship in
Thoracic and Neurosurgery. This department had more patients with accidental injuries and more severe conditions, so I paid even greater attention to psychological care for patients. During this period, there was a
73-year-old patient with cerebral hemorrhage in semi-coma. During every ward round, I would provide detailed explanations to the family about drug interactions and nursing precautions during the rehabilitation period. My dedication moved the family, who memorized the information on my name badge and wrote a
commendation letter to the head nurse on
October 8. This letter greatly strengthened my confidence to continue doing nursing work well.
On
November 15, I came to the busy
Emergency Department for internship. I always maintained a correct attitude, rigorously followed work procedures, and strived to serve every patient well.
This internship has yielded abundant rewards. First, I sincerely thank
Jin Yuting, my instructor at
Dalian Maple Leaf College of Technology, for her meticulous teaching during my university years, which laid a solid theoretical foundation for me. Through this internship, adopting the model of combining "theory with practice," I have gained a deeper understanding of the basic knowledge and skills learned, which will undoubtedly have an extremely favorable impact on my future career development.
Secondly, during the internship I focused on cultivating good professional qualities and work attitudes. Medical work requires a high sense of responsibility and meticulous attention to detail. I learned to respect patients' rights and provide them with intimate care, and also mastered the skills of close collaboration with team members to provide patients with the highest quality medical services. Although I encountered many difficulties and challenges during the internship, I always maintained a positive attitude and professional spirit—these valuable experiences will all become important assets in my career.
Finally, I was fortunate to receive guidance and advice from senior doctors and nurses, whose feedback has been extremely valuable to me and which I will fully apply in my future studies and work. During the internship, I was conscientious and responsible, diligent and eager to learn, practical and willing to work. When encountering things I didn't understand, I could humbly seek advice, think actively, flexibly apply what I learned at school to actual work, not fear hardship or fatigue, and complete work tasks to high standards. I strictly observed hospital rules and regulations, united with colleagues, respected teachers, and maintained an amiable attitude. I will continue to work hard and constantly improve myself in my future work.
The end of internship life means the beginning of a brand-new journey. I firmly believe that everything I have learned will assist my future work, enabling me to provide patients with better medical services. Once again, I sincerely thank Counselor
Jin Yuting and teachers of various subjects for their hard cultivation and encouragement. This internship experience has given me full rewards, adding a
vivid and colorful stroke to my university life.
