Internship is a kind of expectation—an expectation for one's own growth. During my internship at
Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Dalian University, I was fortunate to participate in work at different departments, such as the
Emergency Department,
Internal Medicine, and
Obstetrics and Gynecology. This gave me a deeper understanding of the hospital environment and enabled me to cope with various conditions and emergency situations.
In the
Emergency Department, I learned how to handle emergency patients, including
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and
wound management. In
Internal Medicine, I actively participated in patients' daily nursing work and collaborated with doctors and other nursing teams to provide comprehensive nursing services. In
Obstetrics and Gynecology, I learned professional knowledge about handling pregnant women and
neonatal care.
I still remember when I first came for internship, I was merely a confused student knowing only superficial knowledge from textbooks. Now, after the internship, I can already apply theoretical knowledge to complete practical operations, having made great improvements in all aspects. Every day, besides learning knowledge related to my position, I also need to strengthen the integration of professional knowledge with my position, striving to apply knowledge to clinical practice. I have also understood that we must have a strong sense of responsibility for our duties, be responsible for our positions, and be accountable for our work.
In the early stage of internship, I was full of curiosity and expectation about stepping into the nursing profession, but soon I discovered that this job was far more complex and arduous than I had imagined.
During the hospital internship, I learned how to establish good communication and relationships with patients and their families. Every patient is unique, requiring our patient listening and caring attitude. I learned how to correctly inquire about patients' conditions and needs, and how to provide emotional support and comfort. When patients and families feel our care, they are more likely to establish trust with us, thereby cooperating more effectively with treatment.
