As an intern majoring in rehabilitation, I stepped into the internship position in the rehabilitation department with aspirations and expectations for my future career. This internship experience is like a colorful painting, depicting my growth and gains.
At college, solid theoretical learning laid a firm foundation for my internship.
Human Anatomy gave me knowledge of body structures,
Physiology helped me understand bodily functional operations, while
Rehabilitation Assessment and
Rehabilitation Therapeutics provided me with the knowledge framework for evaluating and treating patients. When I first entered the rehabilitation department, facing real patients and busy work scenes, I was still somewhat at a loss. However, under the patient guidance of my supervising instructor, I gradually found my direction.
I actively participated in patients' rehabilitation treatments, from assisting physical therapists in operations such as
electrotherapy
and
thermotherapy
, to helping patients with
activities of daily living (ADL) training
under the guidance of occupational therapists.
Every step
gave me a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of rehabilitation treatment. In this process, I learned how to adjust treatment plans according to patients' specific conditions, how to communicate effectively with patients and their families, and also felt the hope and change that rehabilitation treatment brought to patients.
There was a patient who suffered a hand fracture due to an operational error at the factory. When he first came, he was in low spirits and had lost confidence in rehabilitation. Together with my supervising instructor, I formulated a rehabilitation plan for him, providing encouragement and support during every treatment session. After a period of efforts, his hand function gradually recovered, and a long-absent smile appeared on his face. He even gave me a
commendation letter. At that moment, my heart was filled with a sense of achievement, and my belief in the rehabilitation field was further strengthened.
During the internship, I received high praise from the department. This honor is not only an affirmation of me personally but also a recognition of the educational achievements of the college. The college's curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, cultivating our abilities to think independently and solve problems, enabling us to quickly adapt to internship positions and demonstrate professionalism and responsibility in rehabilitation work, thus opening a good beginning for our future careers.
